The Hanyang University Global Social Innovation Foundation(Shin Hyun-sang as Director, GSIF), in collaboration with the Ansan City Council for Sustainable Development(Representative Chairman Bang Goon-seop, hereinafter Ansan Sustainable Council), announced the successful conclusion of ‘2025 Dialogue in Ansan – Gathering of Intercultural People’ on October 31 at Faculty Lounge of the ERICA Student Welfare Center.

This event was a communication program aimed at helping native residents and immigrants in the intercultural city of Ansan understand each other’s cultures and share the value of coexistence. It was organized as part of a sustainable, community-linked social innovation program promoted by the Global Social Innovation Foundation in cooperation with the local community.

About 30 participants, consisting of both native residents and immigrants within Ansan City, attended the event and engaged in 1:1 conversations under the theme ‘Life in Ansan.’ Participants freely discussed topics such as: the reasons they came to or live in Ansan, the advantages and inconveniences of living in Ansan, and their cultural similarities and differences, taking the time to deeply understand each other's lives and cultures.

Participants shared positive feedback, including: "It was meaningful because there aren't many opportunities to talk directly with immigrants," "Through the conversations, I felt that we are not so different," and "It was a significant event that changed my perception of the other party." During the conversation session, various policy and cultural suggestions for enhancing the sustainability of the intercultural city of Ansan were also naturally put forward.

An official from the Hanyang University GSIF stated, "This program was a meaningful attempt for the university to assist in mutual understanding among local community members and contribute to sustainable social integration. We plan to continue expanding the intercultural network created by citizens, immigrants, and the university working together."
