HYU 2026 Mid-Term Development Plan Announced
The “2026 Mid-Term Development Plan Proclamation Ceremony,” which sets management goals and strategies for the 16th president's tenure, was held on October 31 at the International Conference Room on the 6th floor of the Paiknam Academic Information Center and Library. At the ceremony, President Lee Ki-jeong announced his vision for the next four years under the theme, “Together, we CAN dream bigger and make it better.”
A total of three entities – “the Development Plan Planning Committee,” comprised of the Deans, “the “Development Plan Task Force Team (TFT),” comprised of working-level experts, and the “Hanyang Future Committee,” an advisory body of external experts who provided insights reflecting social trends - worked together to develop the 2026 Development Plan. In particular, the current development plan reflected the results of a survey conducted from September to October with the participation of a total of 31,035 people, including undergraduate and graduate students, professors, researchers, employees, and alumni.
During the ceremony, Lee announced the vision of “100 Years of Hanyang, a Bold Expedition to Leap Forward,” along with the three missions of △ education that transcends boundaries, △ research that changes the world, and △ management with dignity, and nine strategies to realize them.
For the realization of the first mission, “education that transcends boundaries,” three strategies (education that transcends boundaries between disciplines, education that transcends boundaries between the university and society, and education that transcends boundaries between countries) were set forth. In addition, three strategies (research that leads the world's innovation, research that contributes to the world's sustainable development, and differentiated research by Hanyangians) were set for “research that changes the world.” Finally, three strategies were set for “management with dignity” (management that focuses on the happiness of every member, management that grows together with the development of society and the region, and management that pursues nondestructive innovation).
Lee also unveiled 126 strategic tasks as policies that he will focus on during his tenure. Among them, the six key strategic tasks are: △ establishing Hanyang Intercollege to foster convergent talents, △ introducing the Big-Blur curriculum, △ presenting a leading model for internationalization, △ launching the ERICA K-Culture HUB Campus, △ launching an innovation research center, and △ building a human resources system.
“In four years, I would like to dream of a better Hanyang together with you,” he said. “I will always listen to and communicate with you in the process of implementing our development plan.”
