On September 19, a donation ceremony was held in the President’s Office on the second floor of the Main Administration Building with the attendance of Hwang Kyu-bin, CEO of Xel Line and alumnus of Nuclear Engineering major(Class of ’58), Kim Chong-yang, Chief Director of the Hanyang Foundation, President Lee Ki-jeong, and Vice President Kim Moon-su.

In his welcoming remarks, President Lee expressed gratitude, stating, “I have always deeply appreciated as president to see how Chairman Hwang consistently and actively provides advice to alumni and students working in Silicon Valley. As our university will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2039, I sincerely hope he maintains good health to witness the even greater growth of Hanyang by then.”

In response, President Hwang reflected on his alma mater by saying, “When I entered the university, only Hanyang Engineering College and Seoul National University had colleges of engineering in Korea, which shows how long-standing and prestigious the tradition of Hanyang University in the engineering field is. I am immensely proud of the world-wide achievements engineering students from Hanyang made.”

Over the years, President Hwang has made generous contributions to his alma mater, Hanyang University, including donations toward the construction of the Electronics Building and the Lion Pride Scholarship Fund. This year, he also contributed to the building fund for the new surgical unit at Hanyang University Hospital to promote public health and expand medical benefits. To this date, his donations to Hanyang University amount to approximately 9 billion KRW.
