Korea Economy May 2nd article: "Telemedicine application due to COVID-19, supported by Hanyang University Incubator"

"Doctor Now," a telemedicine application run by Doctor Guide, a successful startup company supported by the Hanyang University's Startup Support Division, is attracting attention in the medical field. Doctor Now is an application that allows users to receive medical treatment by a video call and purchase medicine at pharmacies without going to a hospital, and has had more than 150,000 users in the five months since its launch.

Jang Ji-ho (Department of Medicine, Class of '16) of Hanyang University, Doctor Guide's CEO, introduced a review of the startup he created with the Startup Support Division in an interview with the Korean Economy on the 2nd. Jang said that he approached the Startup Support Divison with a business idea that he had been thinking about for a long time.

Jang, who was mentored by Kang Chang-gyu, Moon Ji-eun, and Professor Choi Kyung-chul of the Startup Support Foundation, said, "I was selected as a start-up club and received commercialization support funding from the school, and also received help from the school when I established a corporation." He added, "With the help of the Startup Support Division, I participated in the world's largest IT and consumer electronics show - CES, and was able to meet several overseas telemedicine companies for advice."

In addition, Jang was selected for the "pre-startup package", and "initial start-up package" projects, managed by the Startup Support Division, one after another and raised 100 million won in commercialization funds. "With external investment and revenue models not established, the school has allowed us to expand our business without worrying about funds," he said.

As COVID-19 begins to allow remote treatment temporarily, Jang's business is growing. Jang said, "Patients who need urgent hospital treatment during self-isolation have started searching for the app," adding, "Telemedicine services can be a solution to prevent the spread of COVID-19."

He also thanked Hanyang University. He emphasized, "The university's entrepreneurial culture is spreading, and the application system is well-organized," adding, "I hope many students will have the courage to start a business."
