Alumni Choi Won-Yoo(College of Medicine) released a new digital single soundtrack with colleague doctor Lee Seung-hwa on June 21st. Doctor Choi created a doctor duo named HowDr with Doctor Lee to make a song about doctor’s joys and sorrows. The first song they made is Sympyeong Medicine(while charging) expressing doctor's feelings who is hurt by the reduction in medical expenses. As he is getting attention in that they are the first ever domestic doctor duo, we interviewed doctor Choi about the life as a doctor and a musician.

Regarding newly released Sympyeong Medicine(while charging), he said “When I claimed medical expenses, I got really angry at the absurdity of so called 'Sympyeong Medicine' (negative comparison of the fact that medical decision is affected by the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service's screening system of medical expenses)," adding “I hope this song can give a small comfort to the medical workers.”

Doctor Choi is now working as a doctor of cosmetic medicine(medical field where medicine science is applied as a means of cosmetic) at a hospital in Seoul. Moreover, he is a head of business department of AI health care company ACRYL and in charge of Wellcare Data (data for customized design for healthy life) analysis and product development at medical information system company Fine Health Care.

He also has an excellent music career in addition to doctor career. he drew attention for a medical student singer as a golden boy, winning bronze prize at creative children’s song festival, bronze prize in Chin Chin star festival, and grand prize in MBC university song festival. Then, he released albums like "For a long time”, “Until When”, “It’s you” and “Window” and has continued music by writing lyrics, composing and arranging multiple songs.

When it comes to the difficulty of simultaneously working both as a doctor and musician, Choi rather urged the advantages saying “it gives me more energy.” About the disadvantage, he said “I sometimes forget some ideas that come to mind doing other things and, I need sleeping without recording because of my schedule.” He showed a firm commitment to living as a doctor and musician. “I really want to make a great songs as I have many ideas in music. I believe I can do it well. I feel like doctor is my vocation. I am doing both because I think both are what I need to do.”

Doctor Choi recalled his times as a Hanyang University student saying “I went to karaoke often with club” adding “There are many seniors and juniors who are geniuses playing music, which impressed and motivated me to do music.” Furthermore, he thanked them saying “There were many good people who pulled me up when I was depressed.”

Choi said that he will continue his musical career. He revealed his aspirations saying “I'd like to deliver songs that can give comfort, not songs that splits the beat mathematically and proceed with complicated code.” He mentioned that he will continue making songs expressing joys and sorrows of medical workers as a name of Dr.JayU.

About his plans, Choi emphasized love. He said that he will continue challenging new ways, saying “I have focused on raising myself for a long time. Now, I'd like to care people around me and grow up with my colleagues.” Regarding his plan, Choi is preparing a platform to trade music, copyright and data. He added “I am making a song named "functional medicine" for popularization of medical treatment and welcare data with colleagues.”

Choi left a comment for Hanyang juniors saying “There are many occasions of getting good opportunities when I am humble.” He then said “I like Hanyang University even more after coming into society”. “A phrase I want to emphasize is 愛之實踐 (Love in Deed and Truth),” he added. He expressed his affectipon for Hanyang by leaving his words, citing Hanyang’s founding philosophy.
