On the 20th, HanYang Institute of Smart Semiconductor (HY-ISS) launched
Recently, the world is fiercely competing for technological supremacy, defining the semiconductor industry as not just one of the state-of-the-art industry but an infrastructure for the survival of a country. This is because almost all industries such as automobile, medical care, and energy are difficult to survive without semiconductor technology.
In line with this global trend, Hanyang University opened a semiconductor research institute on the October 20th to conduct systematic research in the semiconductor field and foster talents in the field.
"Hanyang Institute of Smart Semiconductor (hereinafter HY-ISS, Director Ahn Jin-ho)" consists of four centers: △Extreme Ultraviolet Exposure Technology Research Center △Advanced Semiconductor Packaging Research Center △Atomic Level Process and Plasma Research Center △Next Generation Semiconductor Properties and Device Research Center.
About 50 science and engineering professors will participate in joint research and practical training in the semiconductor-display field beyond interdisciplinary barriers, establishing a support system to foster global talent and attract large R&D projects in the field.
At the opening ceremony was held at the Hanyang University Seoul Campus in Seongdong-gu, Seoul on the afternoon of the October 20th. Officials including Chairman of Hanyang foundation Kim Chong-yang, President Kim Woo-seung, Vice Chairman of ASML Technology Division Jos Benschop, Executive Director Matthew Wilson Karl Zeiss, President of ASML Korea Lee Woo-kyoung, CEO of Lam research Korea Lee Sang-won, Vice President of Applied Materials Korea Lee Gil-yong, Vice President of Tokyo Electron Korea Park Young-woo, President of Wonik IPS Ahn Tae-hyuk, President of TES Lee Jae-ho, Chairman of PSK Park Kyung-soo, President of FST Jo Han-gu, Chairman of Newpower Plasma Choi Dae-kyu, President of ESOL Kim Byung-guk participated the ceremony.
Director Ahn Jin-ho said, " HY-ISS will conduct team-paly joint research and further facilitate cooperation between universities and companies," and added, "HY-ISS will 채contribute to maintaining Korea's superiority in semiconductor technology in the world and developing more innovative semiconductors."
