To nurture top talents encompassing AI and semiconductors

Hanyang University has announced the opening of the AI Semiconductor Graduate School, signaling a full-scale entry into AI semiconductor research and development as well as talent cultivation December 22.

Hanyang University was selected as the "AI Semiconductor Graduate School" project by the Ministry of Science and ICT in May, receiving a total project budget of 16.4 billion won. The newly opened Hanyang University AI Semiconductor Graduate School plans to produce more than 165 advanced personnel in the AI semiconductor field at the master's and doctoral levels over the next six years.

Domestic AI semiconductor companies such as Samsung Electronics, LG AI Research, KT, SK Telecom, Naver, Kakao, SK Hynix, and Qualcomm Korea are participating in the project. The AI Semiconductor Graduate School at Hanyang University will collaborate with domestic AI semiconductor companies to offer a comprehensive curriculum in the form of IC-PBL (Industry-University Cooperation). Additionally, 18 professors from Hanyang University's School of Electronics Engineering, Department of Artificial Intelligence, and Department of Materials Science & Engineering will participate, aiming to educate and nurture global AI semiconductor professionals with both specialized knowledge and practical skills through integrated education and creative independent research.

Furthermore, the Hanyang University AI Semiconductor Graduate School plans to provide a 100% scholarship benefit to all admitted master's and doctoral students to foster outstanding students as talents covering both AI and semiconductor fields.

The opening ceremony of the AI Semiconductor Graduate School at Hanyang University, held on the 21st in Seoul's Seongdong-gu at the Hanyang Institute of Technology (HIT), saw over 90 participants, including executives from participating institutions and professors and students affiliated with the AI Semiconductor Graduate School. Key figures in attendance included ▲ Park Yun-kyu, Second Vice Minister at the Ministry of Science and ICT, ▲ Jun Sung-bae, President of the Institute of Information & Communications Technology Planning & Evaluation, ▲ Song Jai-hyuk, President of Samsung Electronics' Device Solutions Division CTO and  Director of Semiconductor Research Institute, and ▲ President Lee Ki-jeong.

President Lee Ki-jeong stated during the event, "Through core research on AI semiconductors and global collaboration with leading universities and research institutions, we will secure foundational technology."
