Winning the Minister's Award

The 'National Museum and Art Museum New Year's Exchange Event' is a place where staff from major museums gather and share greetings and people are awarded based on the previous year's performance. Hwang won the award through the 'Pavillion of Contemplation' and the 'Cosmonaut' projects. Hwang said, "As I worked in an award-related position I became more grateful. It was all possible because I work at the Hanyang University Museum."

Pavilion of Contemplation Condolences University Students of the COVID-19 Era

Pavilion's etymology comes from the Latin word 'pavilion', meaning a butterfly. It indicates a movable small architecture and one good example is a pavilion. Hwang said, "The 'Pavilion of Contemplation' project is conducted under the theme that the campus and students get their liveliness after the COVID-19 era."

The pavilion, installed in front of the Hanyang Institute of Technology, Hanyang University, provided sensual experiences to students. Hwang said, "Tactile warmness from the wood and acoustic experience through ringing bells at the pavilion enables a spatial experience that makes someone feel cured."

Unlike unilateral previous exhibitions, the 'Pavilion of Contemplation' project expanded the workshop to the whole campus. Students, faculties, and citizens join as audiences and it shows a bilateral communication that combines every random people.

There were performances by students there. Students from the Department of Dance performed under the title 'People meet nature' with the song Crepuscle by Jeff Hanley.

The Cosmonaut: Science and Art Meet

'The Cosmonaut' project exhibits the understanding of the cosmos and human beings in the fields of art and science. By decorating one side of the museum with a machine that is used for the Compace Muon Solenoid experiment it showed an artistic field of a giant machine exhibition. The CMS experiment observes events that occurred after the Big Bang through particles that dissolved atoms and molecules.

Hwang said, "'The Cosmonaut' project is not only an art exhibition but also an educational exhibition." It is because there was a talk concert between scientists and artists, a virtual tour by Professor Kim Tae-jeong of the CMS research team, and an art education program. Likewise, 'The Cosmonaut' project showed the will of Hanyang University Museum staff members who want to be connected and communicate with students.

A Dream as a Curator of Hanyang University

Hwang said, "My personal dream is to have Hanyang University students visit the Hanyang University Museum without any stress. I want to let people know that the museum is not only an exhibition, but also a space where people can go for a date, to rest, or to enjoy their free time." Also, she showed her will, "I want to develop educational programs for Hanyang students following their own majors."

She asked students' attention to an exhibition 'Cement: Moment' that will take place in May. At the exhibition, the history and characteristics of cement and the achievements of Hanyang University professors who study it will be shared.
