Hanyang University is starting to foster core talents for intelligence robot high-end field that are going to lead the growth of Korea, cooperating with local governments and industries.

Hanyang University ERICA was chosen as the 'intelligence robot innovation convergence university that the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation supported for six years, from 2021 to 2026. The project aims at solving education differences among regions and universities and at forming core talent cultivation projects for national-level high-end industries. Hanyang University ERICA's intelligence robot innovation convergence university project is taking many high-end robot field human talent cultivation programs together with local governments and industries.

Hanyang University ERICA, as an intelligence robot test bed, formed and operated the ANSAN Innovation Center for AI and Robotics in cooperation with Ansan City, the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology, and the Korea Testing Laboratory last December.

Also, it was chosen as a finalist for the 'K-Digital Platform Project' by forming a cooperation consortium of training facilities, equipment co-using, training process education support with Ansan City, Gyeonggi Techno Park, Korea Institute of Robot and Convergence, and Doosan Robotics this February. Based on this, it became a hub university of Gyeonggi Province that runs an industry-fitting training process of AI and robotics for young job seekers, non-employed people, and people in such industries.

Last May, it initiated the 'Local Government - University - Robotics Institute Agreement' to bring the 'Robot City Ansan' into reality and it is conducting many activities to cultivate high-end field talents by signing agreements for technology and education with Siemens Digital Industry Software.

Director Park Tae-joon of Intelligence Robot Innovation Convergence University (Professor at the Department of Robotics of Hanyang University ERICA Campus) said, "We conducted successful development and operation of module-formed convergence education process through interdisciplinary cooperation for human talent cultivation. From now on, we will not stop taking many approaches to form an intelligence robot new industry cluster." The project group is going to form an intelligence robot living lab, education center, and research center at Ansan and is going to connect it with preexisting projects."
