On February 2nd, Hanyang University's Higher Education Innovation Foundation announced the background and performance of the "Advanced Classroom LIVE+" project at the 2020 HYU University Innovation Support Project Untact Performance Sharing Campaign.

"Advanced Classroom LIVE+" was established to preemptively respond to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and to improve online education quality. In line with this purpose, the University Innovation Support Project provided hybrid lecture rooms with the ON-OFF system that is required in the untact era.

"Advanced Classroom LIVE+" allows students to participate more conveniently by installing a real-time camera to track the instructor and by providing live and recorded lectures. In addition, LMS interlocking and a non-face-to-face learner screen is provided during lectures to form an integrated learning environment for online lectures.

From last July to November, the university held two competitions for advanced classroom LIVE+. In the first competition, a total of 17 classrooms were selected from the public offering. The second contest was completed during the summer holiday and the results will be released in January 2021, after collecting the applicant results. 

As a result, 17 pilot classrooms were set up for the first semester in 2021 and about 10% of all classes were carried out in advanced classrooms. A total of 38 classrooms were built in 2020 which will allow about 30% of the classes to be carried out in advanced classrooms. In addition, advanced classrooms scored 4.06 out of 5.0 overall in a satisfaction survey from lecturers. 

Meanwhile, the University Innovation Support Project is a state-funded project by the Korea Research Foundation to support strengthening basic capabilities and strategic characterization of universities in response to future social changes, and the establishment of a future creative talent development system.
