1.8 billion won of the government R&D budget will be supported over two years

Hanyang University ERICA Campus was selected as one of the universities for the 2021 University Open-Lab Support Program by the Ministry of Science and ICT.

In connection with local industry demands, the Ministry of Science selected 6 universities in 5 districts of Korea to utilize and spread universities' research results.

ERICA Campus was selected as the Seoul·Gyeongin area university. The chosen universities will be supported by the government R&D budget of 1.8 billion won for the next two years.

The University Open-Lab Support Program establishes open, innovative laboratories in connection with local strategic industry demands centered around the universities' industry-academic cooperation foundations and supports rapid market entrance through technology transfer and commercialization. Through this, universities will provide technologies and professionals that companies require, and companies will contribute to local business vitalization with speedy product commercialization. As a result, it aims to establish and spread a success model that leads to youth job creation.

Furthermore, the first online meeting was held as a part of the business launch process. Through this, local strategic industry and linked universities shared the technology commercialization status and strategies and shared diverse ideas to grow into research and development centers on local technology commercialization.

Hanyang University President Kim Woo-seung said that "For small and mid-sized companies that have limits in research and development investment, it is necessary to use excellent results from universities and cooperate with researchers." He also added that the university will establish a platform for university-industry linked commercialization of local innovative technology based on information and communication technology converged materials and parts."
