1. Selected for Gyeonggi Province RISE project, securing ₩20 billion over five years
Hanyang University ERICA Campus has been selected as a “Future Growth Industry Leading University” in the RISE (Regional Innovation System for Education) project jointly promoted by the Ministry of Education and Gyeonggi Province. Based on its self-developed HY-RISE model, the campus will receive ₩20 billion in national and provincial funding over five years to accelerate regional innovation and university-industry collaboration.
2. Selected for first marine SRC project in Korea, receiving over ₩11.5 billion in funding
Professor Shin Kyung-hoon’s team from the Department of Marine Science and Convergence Engineering was selected for the Ministry of Science and ICT’s SRC (Science Research Center) project—the first ever in the marine field. Under the theme “Responding to Compound Threats in Marine Industries Based on Sustainable Marine Ecosystems,” the team will receive more than ₩11.5 billion over seven years.
3. Second consecutive year of enrollment expansion in high-tech fields, leading national development
The campus recorded a net increase of 106 students in 2024 and 78 students in 2025 in high-tech sectors such as semiconductors, biotechnology, secondary batteries, cloud computing, and drones. This is the highest net increase among universities in the capital region, reinforcing ERICA’s role as a hub for talent development in strategic industries.
4. Selected for the 2025–2026 High School Education Contribution Program
Hanyang University ERICA was again selected for the Ministry of Education’s High School Education Contribution Program. The campus runs various initiatives to ensure fairness in admissions and strengthen links with high school curricula, fulfilling its social responsibility as a public educator.
5. Two HY Convergence Research Institutes launched at ERICA
To advance interdisciplinary research in AI and defense, the campus launched two new institutes: the HY Institute for AI Convergence (HY-IAC, led by Professor Kim Sang-wook) and the HY Institute for Defense Technology (HY-IDT, led by Professor Choi Jee-woong). The institutes will cultivate a dynamic ecosystem for next-generation strategic technologies.
6. Named Best University in Regional Development at THE Asia Awards 2025
Hanyang University ERICA was recognized as the top university in the “Outstanding Contribution to Regional Development” category at the THE Asia Awards 2025. Its collaborations with local governments like Ansan and Gwangmyeong to support entrepreneurship, lifelong learning, and community problem-solving were highly praised.
7. Naval Center for Advanced Scientific and Technological Convergence established
In partnership with the Republic of Korea Navy, the campus established the Naval Center for Advanced Scientific and Technological Convergence. The center serves as a key hub for developing future defense technologies and enhancing military training through advanced science and technology.
8. First educational facility in Korea to receive carbon-neutral construction certification
Hanyang University ERICA became the first educational institution in Korea to receive “Carbon-Neutral Construction Certification” from the Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology. The recognition highlights the university’s commitment to applying eco-friendly technologies in all phases of design, construction, and operation, setting an example in ESG and sustainable campus development.
