Hanyang International Summer School that foreign students can immerse in Korean culture and language was held in Paiknam concert hall on July 6th 2015.

Hanyang International Summer School (HISS) was first established in 1997 as a means to encourage more international exchanges between Hanyang and its partner universities.
HISS is that about 1,000 students participate in various field trips, excursions and cultural programs for a month, including learning Korean language.
Opening ceremony was started with opening speech by Bo-young Kim who is a vice-dean of International cooperation agency and it led to welcome speech by professor Bong-Il Jin. And MC introduced professors and volunteers to participants.
Participants watched Video clips introducing the HISS in 2014. And then, they saw Korean classical music performance and pansori played by students who belong to college of Music
In addition, International Students who are unfamiliar with living in Korea solved curiosity by having a Q-and A session.

Q. How did you decide to participate in HISS?
A. I’m looking forward to having a very good time here and also broad my network of friends, because right now it is very important to network to go forward in life so I’m looking forward to that also.

Q. What would you like to achieve by the end of HISS?
A. I’m taking an art film course, and for me what’s most interesting thing is sort of diversify my creative eye and another international city like Seoul.
I’m very accustomed to city living because of where I come from, but I think for my own creative vision and I think it is great to sort of expand your identity as an international person and feel like you belong to the planet and belong to other spaces...
it helps your art, it helps who you are as person and Hanyang international summer school is going to be a great place to do exploring, meet some people and enjoy the fun that’s all.

Every year, Hanyang International Summer School(HISS) is becoming increasingly popular among international students visiting Korea.
Through this program, I hope they can make special memories by carrying out cultural exchange.
